ESPN axes 'Monday Night Football' regular to make room for Jason Kelce

In order to make room for Jason Kelce, ESPN has formally demoted Robert Griffin III from the program's "Monday Night Football" coverage.

As he embarks on his next chapter as an NFL broadcaster, Kelce has signed with ESPN after retiring from his illustrious playing career with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Riding the wave of success brought about by his brother Travis's well-liked "New Heights" podcast, Kelce was apparently being pursued by multiple networks to join a broadcast team for the 2024 NFL season,

following his decision to end his storied career earlier this offseason. With so many options available to him, the former center decided to sign with ESPN.

Kelce will appear on ESPN's pregame program "Monday Night Countdown" during the regular season, the network announced on Tuesday.

Additionally, ESPN's coverage of the 2027 Super Bowl and the Super Bowl studio coverage will feature appearances by Kelce.

Kelce's Monday Night Football schedule will be unveiled when the NFL releases the official league schedule on Wednesday, May 15. The Eagles icon will make his debut for the network when the New York Jets face the San Francisco 49ers in Week 1 on Monday Night Football.
