Miss Teen USA 2023 runner-up Stephanie Skinner declines title days after winner resign

Days after UmaSofia Srivastava, the first runner-up for the 2023 Miss Teen USA title, resigned, Stephanie Skinner declined to accept the winning title.

The 2023 Miss New York Teen USA winner, Skinner, opened up about her career in an Instagram post on May 12 while also expressing her support for Srivastava

She has the chance to win the title now that Srivastava has given up her crown because she finished second in the September 2023 Miss Teen USA competition.

But Skinner said in a statement that she has declined the title of Miss Teen USA after giving thought to all that she has learned throughout her career

She claimed that she didn't make this choice hastily.

She posted on Instagram, saying, "I have decided to decline the title of Miss Teen USA in light of recent events.

Making this choice is difficult. Since I never asked to make this decision, I sincerely hope that my decision will be respected.

She continued by stating that her “word is everything” and then revealed some of the impending tasks on which she is currently concentrating.

She continued, "I committed to a global research career opportunity in Thailand that will necessitate spending the summer abroad."

Next, Skinner expressed her support for Noelia Vogt, who recently resigned from Miss USA, and Srivastava, who recently resigned as Miss Teen USA.

The 19-year-old pageant competitor continued, "In addition, even though I am not exactly sure what Noelia and Uma went through that caused them to resign, I am sending them immense love and support."
