Ohio State ranks highly in ESPN's initial 2024 rankings.

ESPN's inaugural 2024 college football preseason rankings ranked Ohio State fifth.

On Tuesday, ESPN expert Mark Schlabach ranked the Buckeyes below the Georgia Bulldogs, Texas Longhorns, and Oregon Ducks.

Ohio State, which finished 2023 11-2, has had its ups and downs this offseason. Several noteworthy players have left the program for richer pastures, but recruitment and the transfer site have made good on those losses.

A few Buckeye starters have yet to decide whether to return next year. These include cornerback Denzel Burke, receivers Marvin Harrison Jr. and Emeka Egbuka. Ohio State plays Akron Zips at Ohio Stadium on August 31 to start the 2024 season. No contest start time has been announced.
