Pear-Pecan Cheese Ball

This nutritious cheese ball dish features sweet pear, salty Cheddar cheese, and crunchy almonds, making it an appealing holiday treat. Serve with a variety of crudités and crispy party crackers.  

INGREDIENTS

– 8 ounces reduced-fat cream cheese, softened – 1 ¼ cups shredded extra-sharp Cheddar cheese – 1 medium firm ripe pear, finely chopped

– 1 scallion, white and green separated, finely chopped – ½ teaspoon salt – ¼ teaspoon ground pepper – ⅓ cup finely chopped toasted pecan

Directions

In a medium bowl, combine cream cheese, cheddar, pear, scallion whites, salt, and pepper.  

STEP 1

Spray a big piece of plastic wrap with cooking spray. Scoop the cheese mixture over it. Form the cheese mixture into a ball and wrap it completely in plastic. Refrigerate for at least one hour, and up to two days. 

STEP 2

In a small dish, mix pecans and saved scallion greens right before serving. Roll the cheese ball in the mixture, pressing it to adhere.
