The Demo Of Lainey Wilson’s “Wildflowers And Wild Horses” Is Hauntingly Beautiful

Over the weekend, Lainey Wilson achieved her eighth career #1 hit at country radio with "Wildflowers and Wild Horses," which peaked at the top of the Mediabase chart.

She wrote the song with Trannie Anderson and Paul Sikes, and it was released as the third single from her 2022 Grammy-winning Bell Bottom Country album.

Of course, both the music and the concept clearly reflect Lainey's Western background and upbringing in rural Louisiana.

She is the fifth-generation daughter of a farmer, as she mentions in the lyrics, and the song has a cold, brooding melody that gives it a truly distinctive twist.

To commemorate the achievement of achieving a #1 hit, one of the writers, the aforementioned Paul Sikes,

uploaded the first demo of the song on Instagram, written four years ago in 2020... And it's really cool.

And, of course, studio cuts rarely sound exactly like demos, because demos are typically a much more stripped-back

simplified version of the song with vocals that haven't yet been recorded in the studio.
